Through my journey of self-study, I have found that having routines and rituals keep me feeling grounded and inspired. I often get caught up in the busyness of life and fall out of my routines, but they are always there waiting for me, once I remember to lean back into them.

The strongest force for an open heart is practicing gratitude. I recognize that my life moves in flow, when I am coming from a place of daily acknowledged gratitude. For me, this is as simple as writing one sentence at the top of my to do list, before my first bite of breakfast.

Having a reverence for a higher power has kept me feeling protected as well as guided through many of my life’s storms. I have studied many different religious belief systems and have found common ground in many of them. I am humbled at the unlimited ways we can find a softness in our heart to respect and learn from what we don’t fully understand.

I believe that when I pray, I am expressing my gratitude for my personal opportunity to have a life and to learn things, to experience what earth provides, to understand emotions and human connection.

I believe that when I meditate, I am giving the universe a chance to speak to me, in terms of images, words, or of thoughts of another who may need support, or even just to experience a connection to peace. I have come to learn through repetition with meditation, that I am kinder to myself and others when I take the time to sit in meditation.

My Morning Awaken Routine

  1. Begin with a Prayer of Gratitude

My Personal Prayer: “Heavenly Father, Mother Earth, thank you for this opportunity to make a difference and experience this life. Please keep me safe and healthy and help me to connect to those who need support and love. I respect you; I respect me, I respect others. Amen.”

  1. Meditate – I love the Insight Timer app. The daily quotes always bring a smile to my face and start my day with something positive to consider. I notice that I have more peace in my life when I invite meditation into my day.
  2. Journal – Notate what came up through your practice so far, notice symbols and begin to recognize their synchronicities in your life. Document what is on your heart so that you can have a written path to chart your progress and recognize what works best for you.
  3. Affirmations – Write down what you want to call into your life! What you focus on will multiply. “You are special, You are Enough, Your light brings joy to the world.”
