Most athletes are constantly scanning.
- What did the coach think?
- Did I mess that up?
- What are my teammates saying?
It pulls them out of the moment.
And the more they look around,
the less they stay locked into their own game.
There’s a simple shift that changes this:
Let them.
- Let them doubt you.
- Let them question you.
- Let them make decisions you don’t agree with.
Because trying to control all of that?
That’s where your energy goes to die.
And when your energy is gone, so is your game.
Letting go doesn’t mean you don’t care.
It means you’re choosing what deserves your attention.
Because what actually moves performance isn’t what others think.
It’s what you do next.
- Your effort.
- Your pace.
- Your focus.
The athletes who play freely aren’t free from pressure. They’re just not owned by it.
So the next time you feel yourself getting pulled into the noise, pause and recognize it. And remind yourself, let them.
Then get back to playing your game.
